Episode 22 A Love Like Limoncello

Happy February Tipsy Knitters! It’s one month to go until Edinburgh Yarn Festival, and we’re back to share our excitement- and some love. It is February after all (the content just writes itself!)

This month, we’re drinking our homemade limoncello, the recipe for which you can obtain from Kirstie Allsopp. Spoiler alert- it’s delicious, and we are officially obsessed.

In On and Off the needles, Cia’s been whizzing through her WIPs, having finished her Soiree sweater knit using yummy Cosmic Strings Sock blend, as well as a few other things. Meanwhile, Pip’s finished her Purslowe hat (knit in Queen of Purls DK) and has many positive words to say about that.

We have a cheeky bit of Stash Acquisition to share (yes, we know EYF is but a month away!) but everything was technically Christmas gifts, so we’re safe.

As it’s February and the month of commercialised romance, we decided now was as good a time as any to reintroduce ourselves and share the things we are fond of, from favourite drinks to yarn and designers. Highlights include stealing each other’s choices, as well as some classy anecdotes about student antics and alcohol.

In keeping with the love theme, we have a giveaway! We have a copy of K.M Bedigan’s A Love Like Salt, and some Rusty Ferret Doll to give away to a lucky listener. Simply tell us your favourite yarn, designer, and finished object. You can enter the dedicated thread on Ravelry, tweet/Instagram using #lovetipsyknits, or simply pop your comment down below. We’ll announce our winner next month.

Did we mention we’ll be at EYF next month? We cannot wait! There’s still time to get your #BlackerPODKAL entries in over in the Blacker Yarns Ravelry group, not to mention the Big EYF Knit Night and Meet the Shepherd/ess event on the Sunday to get excited about. You can check ticket availability over on the EYF website. Don’t forget- there will be general admission tickets for the festival on Friday and Saturday available on the doors.

Did you know that the lovely Queen of Purls is moving shop soon? She’ll be leaving the Saltmarket for The Hive in Finnieston shortly, so please note that opening times for the shop will be different between now and EYF. More details can be found on the Queen of Purls website and Zoe will be at EYF with her amazing yarn, fibre and more next month.

In other KAL news, Perth Festival of Yarn recently launched a KAL with the lovely Cosmic Strings (#PFYxCosmicStrings18 KAL). Details can be found over in the Perth Festival of Yarn Ravelry group, but rest assured Cia will be cracking out her collection of Cosmic Strings sock blend for this! You can also obtain some of Cosmic Strings’ beautifully dyed yarn at EYF next month, and on their Etsy shop.

Thanks for listening! See you at EYF!
