Episode 17: Perth Party

Happy new episode, Tipsy Knitters! We’re back from Perth Festival of Yarn, and we have lots to share with you!

Some usual business and admin first: we’re drinking whisky kindly donated by podcast fave, Heather. We also have some exciting admin-related news: we have a Ravelry group! Join us for some Tipsy Knits chat, share stash, WIPs, and we may have some KALs and giveaways for your general enjoyment too.

We’ve both had busy needles, and this episode has seen us go bonkers for brioche. Pip’s dipping her toe in via her Building Blocks shawl, whilst Cia’s still working on her Rose Gold shawl, and when she’s not BRK-ing and BRP-ing, she’s also indulging in Andrea Mowry’s WTF KAL- don’t worry though, no spoilers here!

Then there’s what you’re all here for: what did we get up to at Perth? If you saw the photos from our last post, you’ll already know we had a fab time. We loved getting to meet some of you, and obviously being that close to that much yarn got a big tick from us! We really enjoyed the podcast lounge (sponsored by Lagom Felt Studio), and we’re looking forward to meeting up with Kirsty of Little Bee Accessories, Rosie of Pixel Atlantis, and Helen of Stitch with Sprite 966 in the future! Eva and her volunteers put on a wonderful event, and we cannot wait for next year.

Unsurprisingly, there’s a lot of stash acquisition to share with you too. Cia came away with a rather modest haul, and Pip made a couple of impulse purchases. We also acquired some delicious goodies for you lot too, so stay tuned for next episode when we’ll launch a KAL featuring some cracking prizes. Away from the festival, we made a few additional acquisitions, including some yarn from Slovenia, and WYS’s The Croft.

If you were unable to get to Perth, have no fear- there’s still plenty of time to still share in the fun. With This Skein is the festival’s companion pattern collection, comprised of five gorgeous patterns from some very talented designers. The collection is available from the festival website for £10, featuring accessories and a whole smorgasbord of techniques- there is something for every knitter’s tastes and abilities. We’re looking forward to starting some projects from the collection ourselves!

We’re also very excited to launch our first ever giveaway! We have a Perth Festival of Yarn 2017 tote bag for one listener to get their paws on. All you need to do is head over to our Ravelry group and answer the question in the giveaway thread. We’ll keep this open until our next episode in October. We can’t wait to see your answers!

Until next time!
